New
features of version 3.05(click on link
for more info)
Note: The
thesaurus function will work only on a Quickpad
IR with extended memory. To find out if your
Quickpad has the extra memory simply upgrade your
unit to this version and look at the main screen
when it powers up; you'll see the new revision
number like so:
Version
3.06-E-K2T 03/08/2006 (H4)
If there
is a capital "T" following the K2 (or
K1) you already have the thesaurus. If there is a
lower case "t" then you have the
Quickpad with extended memory and you can simply
download the thesaurus files and upgrade your
unit. If there is a space following the K2 your
Quickpad does not have enough memory, however all
Quickpads built in the last several years have a
socket for the memory chip and can probably be
upgraded by return to the factory. If there is an
"(H4)" on the version line there is a
socket for the extra memory chip.
Once you've completed the
program upgrade and if your Quickpad IR shows a
lower case t in the version number you can install the
new thesaurus files.
To upgrade your Quickpad IR you will need the
appropriate "QPM" file (Step 2 below),
and the latest Upgrade/File Transfer program;
"QPIR13.EXE". Please follow
steps 1 through 3 below.
STEP 1
First download QPIR13.ZIP.
This newer version of QPADIRFILES is required
when upgrading your quickpad with the latest
spellcheck and thesaurus libraries. It runs on
any Windows platform. The file has been
compressed in "zip" format, so you will
need winzip to decompress it, then save it to
your desktop. You can download WinZip
for free, if you need it. See the WinZip instructions if
you need help.
STEP 2
Now download the
"QPM" file you need. To determine which
file you need, turn on your Quickpad IR and check
the revision shown on the display. You will see
something like, "Version 2.73-E3-K2".
The 2.73 indicates the older software revision.
K1 or K2 indicates the type of keyboard. Be
absolutely certain of the keyboard type. Caution:
If you upgrade to the incorrect keyboard type
your Quickpad will no longer function. Virtually
all Quickpads are the "K2" type,
"K1" Quickpads have not been made since
April 2000.
Also, the firmware upgrade
for QuickPAD IR requires a special serial
cable in order to complete the upgrade. If you do
not have the needed cable, please contact
QuickPAD Sales at 800-373-8181. Or, email us at sales@quickpad.com.
For Quickpad IRs
manufactured since April 2000 use
KB306EK2.QPM
And for original keyboard
type:
KB306EK1.QPM
STEP 3 (Note:
for Quickpad IR versions earlier than 2.72 please
go to alternate STEP
3)

you can now install
the required thesaurus files.
